OUR APPROACH

At Our Hopeful and Holistic Healing Center, I am dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare tailored to the unique needs of each individual. While I specialize in women’s health, addressing specific challenges faced by women in their 20s through 50s, my services are inclusive, welcoming children and men who need care for a variety of conditions.

My mission is to enhance both mental and physical well-being through thorough assessments, tailored therapy, coaching, and prudent medication management, all within a holistic framework that respects time-tested traditional wisdom and embraces contemporary medical advancements.

Incorporating a diverse array of complementary and alternative methodologies, my practice integrates mindfulness, meditation, nutritional guidance, nutraceuticals, and lifestyle coaching. I strive to harmoniously blend traditional and Western medicine, drawing upon select Ayurvedic principles as a guiding reference. I wholeheartedly advocate for the integration of expressive arts and active community involvement, as suitable, in the journey towards healing and personal growth within our psychiatric practice.

Recognizing that mental and physical well-being are deeply interconnected, I collaborate with each patient to devise a holistic care strategy that addresses the entirety of their well-being. My multifaceted and personalized treatment approach is grounded in understanding each individual's unique experiences and challenges, allowing us to create a comprehensive care plan tailored to specific needs together.

Ultimately, my objective is to help each patient attain optimal mental and physical health through a comprehensive, customized approach that addresses their distinct needs and empowers them to actively participate in their own care. I strive to enable our patients to feel present, enjoy life on their terms, and thrive within their community.

Nutraceuticals: Nutraceuticals are natural, bioactive compounds found in foods or supplements that provide health benefits beyond basic nutrition. They may help alleviate symptoms of mental health disorders, such as anxiety or depression, by targeting specific biological pathways. Examples include omega-3 fatty acids, which promote brain health, and adaptogens, which help the body adapt to stress.

Nutritional Guidance: Nutritional counseling focuses on assessing an individual's dietary habits and providing tailored recommendations to optimize their physical and mental well-being. This approach may include meal planning, identifying food sensitivities, and offering guidance on proper nutrient intake to support a healthy lifestyle and enhance mental health.

Meditation: Meditation is a mental exercise that involves relaxation, focus, and self-awareness. It is designed to promote inner peace, stress reduction, and mental clarity. Various forms of meditation exist, such as concentration meditation, where the practitioner focuses on a single point, and insight meditation, which aims to develop a deeper understanding of the self and one's experiences.

Lifestyle Coaching: Lifestyle coaching is a collaborative process that entails supporting and guiding in identifying and implementing positive lifestyle changes to enhance mental and physical well-being. This holistic approach may encompass various aspects of a person's life, such as exercise, sleep, stress management, and work-life balance. The ultimate goal is to empower one to develop sustainable habits that promote long-term health, resilience, and personal fulfillment.

Expressive Activities and Mental Health: Engaging in expressive activities, such as art, dance, and journaling, can have a profound impact on mental health and well-being. These creative outlets offer individuals the opportunity to explore and express their emotions, thoughts, and experiences in a safe, non-judgmental environment. By doing so, they can gain deeper self-awareness, cultivate emotional resilience, and develop healthy coping mechanisms.

Artistic expression, whether through visual arts, dance, or writing, can act as a therapeutic medium that facilitates healing and personal growth. It can help individuals process complex emotions, reduce stress and anxiety, and foster a sense of accomplishment and self-worth. Additionally, engaging in creative activities can encourage mindfulness, as individuals become immersed in the present moment, fostering a sense of inner peace and tranquility.

The value of expressive activities in promoting mental health is discussed and I encourage patients to explore these avenues as part of their overall treatment plan. By incorporating creative expression into their daily lives, individuals can unlock the potential for emotional healing, personal development, and lasting well-being.

Therapy: At our practice, we offer a range of personalized therapy services designed to support and empower our patients on their journey towards improved mental health and well-being. We compassionately apply the use of evidence-informed approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness techniques, to help our patients navigate life's challenges, develop resilience, and cultivate emotional balance.

The benefits of therapy extend beyond symptom relief, fostering self-awareness, and enhancing one's capacity for self-compassion and growth. Engaging in therapy can help better understand ones own thoughts, emotions, and behavioral patterns, enabling oneself to create lasting, positive changes in their own lives. Through our tailored therapeutic process, we are committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment where patients feel heard, understood, and empowered to achieve their mental health goals.

Medication Management: Medication is not warranted in all cases. For those situations that would benefit, we incorporate medication management, as it may be a critical component of psychiatric care that involves the careful selection, prescription, monitoring, and adjustment of medications to optimize treatment outcomes and minimize potential side effects. This process begins with a comprehensive evaluation of the medical history, current medications, and unique needs. We then prescribe the most appropriate medication(s) and closely monitor progress, making necessary adjustments to ensure the highest level of safety and efficacy. The goal of medication management is to enhance one’s mental and physical well-being while fostering collaboration between the patient and healthcare provider, empowering the patient to take an active role in their treatment journey.

Ayurvedic medicine is an ancient, holistic healing system originating from India that seeks to restore balance within the body, mind, and spirit through natural remedies, dietary guidelines, and lifestyle practices. I selectively integrate Ayurvedic principles and therapies to complement conventional treatments, creating a harmonious, personalized approach to enhance overall mental and physical well-being.

The Importance of Community in Mental Health: A strong sense of community plays a vital role in promoting mental health and well-being. Being part of a supportive network fosters a sense of belonging, enhances emotional resilience, and provides opportunities for social connection and personal growth. Research has consistently shown that individuals with robust social ties are more likely to experience lower levels of stress, anxiety, and depression, and maintain a higher quality of life.

At my practice, I recognize the transformative power of community in mental health and actively strive to facilitate these connections for our patients. I support and encourage open communication, collaboration, and the sharing of experiences, as these interactions can lead to increased understanding, empathy, and mutual support. By nurturing a welcoming environment and fostering meaningful relationships, I aim to empower our patients to thrive within their community, ultimately contributing to their overall mental health and well-being.

In addition, I specialize in working with women who seek support on the mental health aspects of the following:

  • Digestive/Liver Health Issues

Experience gastrointestinal disorders such as [Fatty Liver Disease, IBS, Small Intestinal Bowel Overgrowth (SIB), using my several years experience treating liver and gastrointestinal disorders to effectively treat conditions at the intersection of mental and gut health.

  • Identity & Embracing the Self

Fees

Other than Medicare, my practice is fee-for-service and does not accept insurance or negotiate with insurance companies.

  • I provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance (if you have out-of-network health benefits) for partial reimbursement, although I can not guarantee your insurance will reimburse my fees. I also use Reimbursify, a software that simplifies out-of-network insurance reimbursement. Please note that I do not offer sliding scale or discounted rates.

  • Additionally, you can use your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for our services, offering a convenient way to manage your healthcare expenses.

  • The initial consultation at our practice is designed to provide comprehensive care for individuals seeking standard psychiatric support, who may have minimal prior experience with medications and maintain overall good health.

During this appointment, we will engage in an in-depth conversation to understand your background, personal narrative, and concerns. Our discussion will encompass your mental health challenges, medical history, significant relationships, daily routines, and desired outcomes. Together, we will formulate a tailored plan, potentially encompassing laboratory tests, nutritional guidance, physical activity, sleep recommendations, psychotherapy, supplements, and medications. If necessary, we may seek to collaborate with your primary care provider, therapist, or other relevant parties in your care network. Please note that the coordination of care and all documentation associated with this initial consultation are covered by the consultation fee.

    $380

  • During our follow-up sessions, we will assess developments since our last meeting, monitor your progress, evaluate lab results, and identify effective and less effective aspects of your current plan related to your medication management. We will then adjust your personalized strategy accordingly. These shorter visits are ideal for addressing specific concerns or managing medications and complementary therapies. For those incorporating psychotherapy into their treatment, we recommend opting for an extended 60-minute session to ensure ample time for in-depth exploration and support.

  • The topics covered in the 60 minute follow up visit will be reviewed as well as more comprehensive review of your current response.

depression

  • Depression is a common mental health condition that can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or background. *Feelings of worthlessness or excessive guilt

*Difficulty concentrating, making decisions, or remembering things

*Restlessness or slowed movements and speech

It's important to note that experiencing some of these symptoms doesn't necessarily mean that someone has depression. However, if you or someone you know is experiencing several of these symptoms for two weeks or longer, it's recommended to seek professional help.

Transforming Care:

Integrative Health and Practitioner Expertise

  • Integrative health is a patient-centered approach to healthcare that focuses on treating the whole person, including their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Rather than just treating symptoms or diseases, integrative health practitioners seek to address the underlying root causes of health issues, using a variety of evidence-based techniques from both conventional and complementary medicine.

At Our Hopeful and Holistic Healing Center, we take an integrative approach to mental healthcare, which means that we blend traditional and modern evidence-informed psychiatric treatments and practices, such as therapy and medication management, with complementary and alternative approaches, such as mindfulness and meditation, nutrition counseling, and lifestyle coaching. By taking a whole-person approach to care, we strive to empower our patients to take an active role in their own health and well-being, and to achieve optimal mental and physical health.

Integrative health also recognizes that mental and physical health are deeply interconnected, and that improving one aspect of a patient's health can have a positive impact on other aspects of their health as well. By addressing all aspects of a patient's well-being, including their mental health, diet, exercise, sleep, stress levels, and social support, we aim to help our patients achieve a state of optimal health and wellness.

Integrative health also places a strong emphasis on the patient-provider relationship, with practitioners taking the time to listen to their patients, understand their unique needs and challenges, and develop personalized treatment plans that address their individual needs. This collaborative approach to care helps to build trust, confidence, and a sense of empowerment in patients, and has been shown to lead to improved health outcomes and patient satisfaction.

We look forward to connecting with you on your mental health wellness journey!

  • As a nurse practitioner, I am a licensed healthcare provider who has completed extensive education and clinical training in the field of nursing.

While physicians and nurse practitioners both provide medical care, there are some differences in our roles and training. Physicians complete medical school and are trained to diagnose and treat illnesses, prescribe medication, and perform medical procedures. Their role is vital in the healthcare system.

Nurse practitioners have a nursing background and are trained to provide comprehensive care that emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention, and patient education addressing the whole person which is critical. There are many physicians especially psychiatrists who embrace this model that serves the foundation of our training.

As a nurse practitioner, I am trained and qualified to diagnose and treat mental health conditions, prescribe medication. I have certifications in CBT and provide therapy services. I work collaboratively with members of my patient’s healthcare team (including physicians, nurse practitioners, dieticians, physical therapists, etc.) to ensure that our patients receive the highest quality care possible. If you are seeking care for mental health concerns, we are here to help and can provide a comprehensive approach to your care in the Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Washington D.C.

  • When it comes to providing psychiatric care, having a background as a family nurse practitioner has several benefits. First and foremost, family nurse practitioners are trained to view their patients holistically, meaning that they take into account their patients' physical, emotional, and social needs. This approach is especially important in the field of mental health, where physical and emotional health are intertwined and must be considered together to promote overall wellbeing.

Furthermore, family nurse practitioners are trained to prioritize patient education and empowerment, which can be especially useful in mental health care. Patients who are struggling with mental health issues may feel overwhelmed and uncertain about their treatment options, but with the support and guidance of a family nurse practitioner, they can become more informed and confident in managing their symptoms.

Additionally, family nurse practitioners have experience providing primary care services to patients of all ages and backgrounds. This can be invaluable in identifying and addressing underlying medical conditions that may impact mental health. With a family nurse practitioner, patients can feel confident that their provider is equipped to handle a wide range of issues that may impact their overall wellbeing.

Finally, family nurse practitioners who have received additional training in psychiatric care are well-equipped to provide a comprehensive range of mental health services, including psychotherapy, medication management, and referrals to other mental health specialists as needed. This allows for a more integrated and holistic approach to mental health care, addressing both the physical and emotional aspects of mental wellness.

general questions

  • I appreciate your inquiry about my practice's out-of-network status and not accepting your specific health insurance plan other, than Medicare. My decision to operate in this manner stems from my dedication to providing personalized, attentive care that allows more time with each individual during and between visits. By focusing on this approach, we can better address your unique goals and needs together. Additionally, this allows me to offer greater convenience in scheduling, following up, and maintaining open lines of communication between you and your health care team, as needed.

By choosing to be out-of-network, I am also able to free up valuable time that would otherwise be spent on the minutiae of billing tasks. This enables me to direct attention and energy towards supporting you and enhancing your overall care experience.

I understand that this might not be the ideal situation for everyone, but my priority is to deliver the highest quality of care, tailored to each individual's needs, while ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.

  • I understand that navigating insurance plans and submitting reimbursement claims can be confusing and time-consuming. That's why I provide superbills for you to submit to your insurance plan for reimbursement of our services. Additionally, we work with Reimbursify to check your out-of-network benefits and submit the claims on your behalf, saving you time and hassle.

However, it's important to note that the amount of reimbursement you receive may depend on your specific health insurance plan and its coverage for out-of-network providers. We recommend that you contact your health insurance plan to confirm what part of our services will be reimbursed to you and what the process is for submitting claims.

Additionally, you can use your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for our services, offering a convenient way to manage your healthcare expenses.

If you have any questions or need further assistance with the reimbursement process, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We're here to support you on your journey to optimal mental health well-being.
