Welcome to Our Hopeful and Holistic Healing Center, Where Hope and Holistic Care Unite.
I'm Charlene Julien, a Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in integrative mental health with a diverse background in primary care, Gastroenterology/Hepatology, and a specialized fellowship in Hepatology.
Here at Our Hopeful and Holistic Healing Center, we are passionate about and committed to infusing integrative care throughout our process, which means we combine ancient wisdom and modern medical approaches with effective and personalized treatments. Drawing from Western, Caribbean, and Ayurvedic traditions, we offer a unique fusion of modern and traditional medicine to support your journey towards optimal mental health and well-being. This holistic approach addresses not just symptoms but also the root causes of anxiety — encompassing body, mind, and spirit. By integrating (as needed) diverse interventions such as nutritional guidance, lifestyle modifications, mindfulness practices, and medication management, we tailor a care plan that truly enhances your ability to thrive in daily life, cultivate meaningful relationships, and pursue your dreams with confidence and resilience.
Our services are available in-person in Massachusetts and via televideo for clients in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Washington, DC.
We are honored to have supported and will continue to support the wellbeing journeys of countless amazing women and men experiencing transitional stages in their lives and/or struggling with anxiety. In our holistic approach to mental health care, we recognize that anxiety manifests differently in women, and while we treat both men and women, our specialty lies in addressing the unique needs of women in their 20s to 50s. Our patients have often recounted that their stress and anxiety are often related to work, relationships, school, and managing unexpected changes.
This may sound familiar, especially the feelings of overwhelm and disconnect, which can impact daily life and relationships. You may even feel that despite your best efforts to cope, you still feel stuck or unsure of how to move forward. A feeling of discouragement from prior tries at various forms of treatment, including therapy and medications, in the past, but have yet to find a comprehensive approach that meets your unique needs. There is more than hope!
Join us in embracing the path to joyful, meaningful mental wellbeing through the power of holistic care.
We often hear the following:
"It feels like I'm always waiting for the other shoe to drop, even on good days."
"I'm exhausted from trying to be stronger than I feel."
"My mind is like a browser with too many tabs open, and I can't seem to close any of them."
"I often find myself worrying about things that haven't happened yet, preparing for disasters that never come."
"Some days, even making the simplest decision feels overwhelming."
"I wish I could just switch off my brain and stop these incessant thoughts."
"To others, my life might look fine, but inside, it feels like I'm constantly fighting a storm."
"I'm so tired of the constant, nagging feeling that I've forgotten something important, even when I haven't."
"Even when I'm surrounded by people, I feel so alone with my anxiety."
"I hate that I can't control my anxiety. It feels like it controls me."
"It's draining to always pretend to be okay when, inside, I'm crumbling from anxiety."
We hear you.
We see you.
We know that you will overcome your anxiety and live joyfully, and we want to help.
Information about Anxiety
Anxiety is a multifaceted condition that often intersects with other mental health issues such as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and conditions like chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), fibromyalgia, and even irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Similar to how these conditions share common threads, anxiety can also be a companion to neurodiversity, including the autistic neurotype, highlighting the complex interplay between mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions.
The roots of anxiety are diverse, stemming from a combination of genetic predisposition, environmental factors, life experiences, and sometimes, physical health issues. Stressful life events, whether emotional (such as loss or trauma) or physical (such as chronic illness or hormonal imbalances), can act as triggers. Like an overburdened system that goes into overdrive to protect itself, the body's response to these stressors can manifest as anxiety, signaling an attempt to guard against perceived threats.
Symptoms of anxiety can vary widely but often include persistent worry, physical symptoms like increased heart rate and dizziness, difficulty concentrating (commonly referred to as ‘brain fog), insomnia, and sometimes, physical pain. These symptoms can significantly impact daily life, but they can improve with a tailored, integrative treatment approach.
2. Ongoing Follow-Up Care
Consistent, supportive follow-up is essential in managing anxiety effectively. After our initial in-depth consultation, we schedule follow-up visits at least biweekly. These meetings allow us to closely monitor your progress, adjust the treatment plan as necessary, and celebrate every step forward. Our aim is to be a steadfast ally in your journey, adapting our care to meet your evolving needs and ensuring you never feel alone in this battle.
The path to managing anxiety is a personal and sometimes challenging journey, but it's a journey filled with hope. Many of our patients begin to see significant improvements in their anxiety symptoms within the first few months of treatment. Over time, they often reflect on their progress with amazement, appreciating the profound difference in their quality of life.
For ongoing comprehensive care, follow-up visits for medication management are $290, and sessions including psychotherapy, with or without medication management, are $380.
